Street Groups Limited hopes that you will consider volunteering to create a Street Group in your own area. This is a very worthwhile task, but it's not an easy one. Permission to create or to prevent the creation of a Street Group lies in the street. Prof. David Sloane Wilson (Vorbis Ogg) explains that groups who learn how to cooperate are much more successful. However, in the city of Bingington, which David Wilson studied, there were valleys and hills of cooperation and non-cooperation. Some people are "pro-social" and other people are not used to working in that way. [mp3 version of Prof. David Sloan Wilson.]
In particular is there an existing group in your street? (Neighbourhood Support for instance.) If so, the Street Group needs to develop within and be extended into the street by that group. Otherwise that group will oppose the creation of the Street Group, and success is unlikely.
If you write to us here, we will try to offer you as much help as possible.
In particular deciding where to locate your site and what to call it and how to work with other groups is worth talking about. It will also be better if you can find someone else in your street to help you.
